Mission
Statement
The mission
of the Tulane General Preventive Medicine Residency Program is to
provide residents with an accredited, high quality educational experience
that will train them for careers in academic, administrative, and
public health practice. This is accomplished through academic excellence
in the didactic education of preventive medicine professionals,
creative partnerships to learn and advance the practice of public
health, engagement in innovative service to the public health community
and active involvement in scientific research or public health-related
projects.
The goals of
the program include:
- Provide a
curriculum for academic and practicum experiences in order to
prepare graduates to identify, resolve, and prevent population-based
health problems and to manage health-related programs
- Engage residents
in clinical preventive services in various community settings
- Advance
preventive medicine and public health knowledge by conducting
scientific investigation and/or quality management projects and
disseminating the results
- Improve the
health of communities through collaborative population-based and
patient-specific approaches to disease prevention and health promotion
